My website is finally live! I’m completely stoked to have such an awesome home on the web. I’ve wanted to have my own site since first logging on to the internet in high school, and this one reflects me and my writing perfectly. Love it! And I have to give a huge shout-out to Frauke with Croco Designs for putting it all together. She does fantastic work!
I have to admit, though, that this site isn’t quite perfect yet. It’s my fault. Or rather, it’s the fault of these little guys:
The boys were born via c-section last week, so I’ve been kind of busy since then because babies… Well, they eat often. Every time I think I might have things under control and can spare a moment to check email, catch up on my RSS feeds, or do a few minutes of writing related work, I look at the clock and realize it’s time to start the cycle all over again. Plus, the boys are just so darn cute, it’s a bit difficult not to spend the whole day watching and holding them. 🙂
Best excuse for being behind on things ever, right? I think so, too.
Anyway, all of this is just to say that, in between double feedings, double diaper changes, and double cuteness overload, I’m still tweaking things. Right now, my plan is to update this blog at least twice a week. I’ll post about my favorite books and authors, and I’m sure I’ll have something to say about juggling newborn twins and life as a writer. If you’re interested in reading more about the craft of writing, you should check out the Magic & Mayhem Writers Blog. I post there every Monday, and my urban fantasy/paranormal romance peeps, Amanda Bonilla, Shawntelle Madison, and Nadia Lee (who also has a newborn boy!) round out the rest of the week.
I’ll also host giveaways on this site and via my newsletter. I’d love it if you sign up for the latter. I won’t send out more than one update a month. That update will include the latest news on my writing, on books that I’m reading and places I’m going, and if you’re interested, it could include a spotlight on you. The Subscriber Spotlight form is completely optional, but I love meeting readers and I think a lot of other people do as well. The newsletter will give us a chance to get to know each other. If you would like to promote your own blog, your GoodReads account, a favorite charity, or some other type of website, just fill out this form for a chance to be spotlighted.
And while I’m here, why don’t we go ahead and have two giveaways so that we launch this site with a bang. I happen to have a couple of copies of these beauties to give away:
Yep. That’s right. I have galleys of my debut urban fantasy, The Shadow Reader. You can read an excerpt here, and if you just can’t wait to read the next chapter, you have a chance to win a galley in two ways.
Way #1: Leave a comment on this post letting me know what you think of this site. What else would you like to see here? Or, as an alternative, you can ask me a question that might get included in the FAQ I’m compiling.
Way #2: Subscribe to my newsletter.
That’s it. No obligation to tweet, Facebook, or repeat this message in any way (though you certainly can if you want to). Next Friday, I’ll announce the winners courtesy of random.org.
Alrighty. The boys should be waking up any minute now for their 1 o’clock-ish feeding. I’m praying they’ll go back to sleep easily after that because mama needs some rest!
Your boys are precious. The cover art to The Shadow Reader is awesome as is your site. I’m still viewing it but so far looks great to me. 😀
Hi Mari,
Thanks for stopping by! The boys are super sweet right now. I’m still waiting for the chaos to break loose.
Glad you like the site!
I love the website colors. While I do have your book on order with my indy Reading Rock Books, I would love to read an arc. Also congrats on the double the trouble, double the fun. Now sit back and enjoy the fun.
Yes, the colors are perfect. Not too dark, but not too light and fluffy either.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
hi! Phoenixfirewolf/Julie from LJ here. Beautiful site. I can’t think of anything else I’d want to see at this point. Very beautiful. I signed up for your newsletter too.
Julie/J.A. Campbell

Oh, tea cup humans! How cute! My little one (born at 5lbs 9 oz) looks like he’d totally fit in a tea cup. 🙂
BTW, LOVE your site! It has a ton of information but it’s well organized information. Plus, I love the header.
Congratulations on your two new future readers, A and B!
I’m totally jealous of the artwork on your site. And on your novel.
You should put one of those little twitter widgets on the left hand side column. You know, the ones that show your tweets. They’re nifty.
Rox
Hi Rox!
The Twitter update suggestion is a good one! Funny thing, though: I just noticed my twitter feed is in the left hand margin of this page. I’m wondering if it’s always been there of if my web designer just added it. I really have no idea. My brain is such mush lately. lol
Congrats on two little ones, Sandy!!! They are adorable. Can’t wait to see what the new site has in store for us. 🙂
Thanks Lisa! I love those guys so much, and it’s awesome to finally feel human again.
🙂
Gorgeous site, gorgeous boys, gorgeous mom and dad, gorgeous cover art, and I know it’s a gorgeous book! I’m so proud of you I could burst! 😀
Aw, thanks David! I’m extremely giddy/happy.
*hugs*
EEEE!!!! The website is live!!!! It looks great! Congrats!
I know! So exciting!
Also: I totally owe you an email. I promise I’ll get to it soon!
🙂
Yeah, I mean, not like you’ve been busy or anything…
The website looks great!! Especially love that background art. And congrats on Awesomes A and B!! 😀
Croco Designs did a fabulous job coming up with the art. So jealous of her talent!
And thanks for the congrats on the Bundles of Awesomeness. 🙂
LOVE the site! It’s very easy to navigate and read, which is my big bugaboo.
I would demand more pictures of The Bundles Of Squishy Awesome, but that seems like a pretty personal decision to make. They’re beautiful — so, so happy for you!
My SIL just took photos of the boys. I think I might have to post one or two of them. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by here! It IS a little crazy taking care of the boys and launching the site at the same time.
I think the new site looks awesome! And so do the babies!
Thanks for the site and baby love!
Congratulations on the babies! They’re beautiful!
Your site is lovely, too. It’s simple, I like the art, and it’s very easy to find my way around.
Yay! Glad the site is easy to navigate. That’s important. 🙂
I love the site, it ties to the book cover really well but is still clean and not cluttered at all. Can’t wait to read the book. 🙂

Love the site, Sandy, but have to admit my favorite part is the pic of your new little ones. They are beautiful…congratulations to you all! And hats off to you for even attempting to launch a site/blog at this time in your life…I don’t think I was able to string two coherent sentences together for weeks after I had my twins! 🙂
My very best wishes to all of you!
Linda
Hi Linda!
Thanks for stopping by. And LOL re: stringing coherent sentences together. I’m so totally there right now. My brain knows what it wants to say, but the words that leave my mouth are sometimes really wrong and random. 🙂
I’m just going to sit and stare at your pree-tay ARC. Lovely! And yes your website is awesome. 😀
The babies are adorable!!!!
Site? Um… sorry, I was staring at the cute babies. *sigh* Site looks great. :o)
To be honest I think you website is perfect. I love the colors and also the sword in the header, lovely. Very simple and sometimes simple is big! I would love to read your book. I seriously can’t wait! I also subscribed =DDD
Heh – Bundle of Awesome “A,” Bundle of Awesome “B” – reminds me of Bundle of Sweet Chaos, a recent sibling addition who has me wrapped around her little finger. Most of the time.
As for the site, the header and complementing colours are one big appeal. And the “ohh, shiny!” of it all makes me want to scope out the pages available.
Yay!!! Congrats, Sandy!!! (And here I was wondering why I hadn’t heard anything out of your wordpress blog in a while….)
