54 days until Shades of Allegiance!
I can’t wait for you guys to read this. I think it might be your favorite Shades book! I love so much about it. I’m still waiting on a few last comments from my editor, then it’s on to the copy editor, then proofreading, then I have to format and upload it, etc. But it’ll be here in January!
Now, I’m in this in between stage. I’m not quite sure what to work on while I await edits. This will be the last Ash and Rip book (at least, the plan is for it to be the last for now), but there are other stories I could write in this universe. I’m trying to decide if I really, really want to write them. The one I’m most excited about is Kaylee and Captain Furyk. You meet them in Shades of Honor. I love their story so much. And then I could write about Rip’s sister, Taya. Or I could write novellas about the four instructors of Caruth. Those would be fun, and we’d get to see Ash and Rip meet for the first time.
I want to write all these stories, but a big part of me wants to get back to Urban Fantasy.
You’d think I would be able to do both, especially since I have a new UF basically ready to go. But back in August/September, I was editing both Shades of Allegiance and Kennedy Rain’s book, and it was so difficult to go back and forth between them! I don’t know how other authors do it. Of course, I don’t know how other authors write so fast either. 🙂
So what do you guys want? Should I write more Science Fiction? Or get back to Urban Fantasy?
I want to read Kennedy! (I mean, I want to read them all – but give me Kennedy.)
I’m aiming for July! Only because I really want to have the second book ready to go within a reasonable time after the first. lol
So… I guess I should be working on the second book?
Ugh, so hard to pick!! I favor the Sci Fi slightly, but love both genres from you!
Oh, yay! I love it when people favor the sci-fi!
Not that I don’t love it when people love the UF… I just feel like my little sci-fi series is in between genres. Not enough nakedness for Science Fiction Romance, but too much romance for Science Fiction. 🙂
How strange. What is too much RIP nakedness? Oh, you said too much romance – but I stand by my original point. 😀
I loved The Shadow Reader. I love fantasy. I can’t say I won’t read dystopian novels, but I want more fantasy. Sci-fi just doesn’t sit with me in the way I love fantasy. Hope at some time you decided to go back to it. I would read it. I got your book by accident and was hoping you had more fantasy. Guess I will have to wait for it.
I understand. I wish there was more crossover between urban fantasy and sci-fi/space opera, but I remember being a kid and despising anything to do with space. That was before I read Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. lol Then I fell in love with sci-fi. Add romance to it, and I was addicted. 🙂
I’m getting back to urban fantasy with my next book, A Void of Magic. Comes out at the end of July. I’m going to do my best to balance my space opera books with urban fantasy…and maybe eventually fantasy romance at some point in time.
Glad you enjoyed the Shadow Reader books! Have you read K. F. Breene? She’s fantastic and has lots of fast pace urban fantasy.
