McKenzie Lewis has a gift. It allows her access to a world few have seen and even fewer can comprehend. It's her secret. And it exists in the shadows...

McKenzie was a normal college student, save for one little twist: she's a shadow reader, someone who can both see the fae and track their movements between our world and the Realm. It's a gift for which she has been called insane, one for which she has risked family and friends--and one that has now plunged her into a brutal civil war among the fae.

With the reign of the king and his vicious general at an end, McKenzie hoped to live a more normal life while exploring her new relationship with Aren, the rebel fae who has captured her heart. But when her best friend, Paige, disappears, McKenzie knows her wish is for now, just a dream. McKenzie is the only one who can rescue her friend, but if she's not careful, her decisions could cost the lives of everyone she's tried so hard to save.

Some of the best books I’ve read in a while!

I just spent my last three days off getting nothing done because all three of these books grabbed me and held my attention from the very first word. I read A LOT of books and can usually predict what’s going to happen before it does, but The Shadow Reader trilogy kept me on my toes with the fast pace and surprises around every corner. I’m always a sucker for a strong heroine who can take care of herself and McKenzie does a fabulous job of growing into herself over the course of the story. I’m usually a one and done with most books I read, but I think this trilogy will get added to the very short stack of books I read again and again because the story is that good.

Looking for shadows just in case…

I am hooked! Narration is wonderful and the story is written so well that I am wondering if this truly exists and I’m just not magically gifted? (Bummer!) I’m still on book one so this is brief, but I can’t wait to listen to more!

Hi Shelly! I'm so happy you enjoyed the book and narration! And so glad you decided to give The Shadow Reader a try. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! <3

First Book in Epic Fictional Saga

I first discovered Sandy Williams' books through the Kennedy Rain series. When I discovered she had written more series, I was thrilled! And this series did not disappoint. The first book begins the story of McKenzie - a shadow reader - who can read shadows left behind by fae who portal to new locations. She can use these shadows to identify the location at the other end of the portal. McKenzie has been using her talent for years to help the fae King track rebel forces attempting to overthrow his reign. Unbeknownst to McKenzie, she has become a dangerous enemy of the rebels who decide to kidnap and kill her. Aren, one of the heads of fae rebel forces, decides to possibly spare her life as he shows her the truth behind the rebellion.

This book is a page-turner and very well written. McKenzie has the spirit of a fighter we all hope we would be in her situation. Aren is an intriguing character and I could not wait to see what he would do next. I highly recommend this book and the entire Shadow series. I have not been able to stop thinking about this one.
